Tobacco filters are toxic. Filters are the most littered item on the planet. They provide no reduction in harmful chemicals into the lungs and bloodstream. They flow into the Monterey Bay by the thousands contaminating water and killing birds and sealife.

Supervisors Koenig and Cummings along with the cities of Capitola, Watsonville, Scotts Valley, and Santa Cruz, Surfrider, Save Our Shores, Save the Waves, Breathe CA, and others are working to develop policy to eliminate the retail sale of filtered tobacco products throughout Santa Cruz County.
