There were over 50 Pitch In Signs highlighting waste disposal areas, restrooms, and individual buildings at the 2026 Santa Cruz County in September.
In an effort to educate patrons on the importance of proper waste disposal,
Christina Hovart and Mary Ann Lobalbo of CDI trained student Ambassadors from Watsonville high school and the Green Grizzlies from Pajaro Valley high school to man waste stations and raise awareness and encourage proper disposal of the three waste streams: Trash, Recycled Materials and Green Waste. Close to one hundred students many wearing Pitch In T-shirts participated.
A special thank you to Stephanie Rios, of Watsonville Wetlands Watch and Satina Ciandro, science educator at Watsonville high School for their leadership and guidance.
