Salsipuedes Creek Leve Cleanup

January 29, 2026

John Moreno from the City of Watsonville and Ramon Gomez from Supervisor Hernandez’s office gathered on an unseasonably beautiful Thursday morning for the Pitch In Salsipuedes Creek Levee cleanup. Two groups took on the challenge. One started at the Buddhist Church on Center Street, and one began cleaning up on East Lake. Over 17 volunteers participated, walking a distance of 1.5 miles and picking up 2 and half truckloads of garbage. New community members joined our regular team along with volunteers from the Corralitos Women’s Club and Pajaro Valley Fire, as well as out of town birders who came to see the wildlife that is found here.

This is why we Pitch In! This is an important habitat for wildlife and in particular birds! A Summer Tanager was spotted. Trash is not good for animals, our environment or people. Pitch In! Stop litter and illegal dumping. Join us for our next cleanup up: go to calendar on pitchinsantacruz.org.
